Version with solar cell. The size without solar cells can be somewhat reduced, depending on the desired autonomy of the batery pack.

The Target is an infrared transmitter device, lightweight and with a minimal footprint, easy to put in place. The Target emits a sequence of pulses with a unique identying code. The pulse train, received an decoded by the Audioguide integral infrared receiver, immediately triggers the playback of the corresponding information stored in the Audioguide memory. The Target remains for most of the time in a low power consumption stand-by state .

The transmission of the code is very fast and requires limited energy. Only in activated state the Audioguide can receive the code from the Target it is pointed to.
The maximum operating distance is 5 meters.
The radiation cone is very selective and close-by items can easily be distinguished.

Power is normally supplied by internal button batteries, sufficient for up to one year of operation; the optional solar cells can automatically recharge the batteries and eliminate the need to replace or recharge them periodically.
